FASD Respect Act Advocacy Information

The FASD Respect Act is currently waiting to be heard in committee (hopefully sometime in March.) Members of Utah FASD Support have met with representatives from Senator Romney, Senator Lee, Congressman Curtis, and Congressman Owens.

It would be wonderful if they could hear from as many of us as possible about the benefits this bill would have for our families. If you have a spare moment, and are in favor of the bill, please consider sending both senator's and your representative a letter stating your support. Contact info for each can be found here:

(Both Senators represent all Utahns)

(Each Congressman represents a part of Utah. To determine who your Utah US Representative is, go here.

If you are not sure what to say, feel free to copy and paste the text below.

Dear,

Professionals, families, and adults in our state impacted by Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASD) are advocating for the passage of the Advancing FASD Research, Services, and Prevention Act (S. 2238) also known as the FASD Respect Act and we are asking for your consideration to become a co-sponsor of the bill.

This comprehensive bi-partisan legislation has been introduced in the Senate by Senators Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) and Amy Klobuchar (D-MN), and in the House (H.R. 4151) by Representatives Don Young (R-AK) and Betty McCollum (D-MN).

Thank you! This legislation is a lifeline for people with FASD and families like mine. For specific information on how FASD effects families in Utah, please go to: https://nofaspolicycenter.org/.../2021/06/FASD-in-Utah.pdf

Sincerely,
